Jessica + Dan

Jessica + Dan

There’s no greater compliment then to be asked to film a wedding by someone who is also a wedding film-maker. So when our friend Dan called us up to film his wedding we were thrilled, but it got even better when he told us the wedding was in Mexico. We’ll be posting Jessica and Dan’s full highlight video in the next few months, but in the mean time enjoy this 1 minute trailer of one of the most dynamic and lively weddings we’ve had the chance to shoot.

Tara + Ben

Tara + Ben

One of the best things about weddings is being able to gather together all of your favorite people in one place, at the same time. Even better if you can take them some place special to you, and you can really share your world with them. For Tara & Ben, that special place they shared with their favorite people is Estes Park, Colorado. And it nearly didn’t happen. Only a couple months before the wedding, their original venue burned down and they were left with the seemingly impossible task of finding a new venue to accommodate their guests who were almost all flying into the state for the destination wedding. Fortunately, they were able to book the recently constructed Pavilion at the Stanley Hotel! The Stanley is famous for it’s incredible views of Rocky Mountain National Park and for supposedly being haunted. Stephen King found his inspiration for The Shining after he and his wife spent a night as the hotel’s only guests. We’re happy to report that despite the challenges they faced leading up to the day, Tara and Ben’s wedding went off without a hitch. No ghosts, no creepy twins in the halls, just two beautiful people declaring their love to each other in the mountains with their closest friends & family. It was a very special weekend that we won’t soon forget.

Heidi and Dan

Heidi + Dan

We first met Heidi and Dan at their condo. A Daft Punk album spun on a record player next to a Lego of First Ave. as Heidi warmly welcomed us at the door. Music posters and records were prominently displayed on the walls and shelves in their spacious living room. Sitting down to discuss the plans for the wedding, we instantly recognized the love these two had for music and the importance it played in bringing them together. They emphasized that they didn’t want their music to be just background but a marker to remember their wedding day by. Their music needed to be meaningful. It needed to be personal.

Music is a subject that comes up with all of our wedding films, and the process by which it is chosen is much more involved than many people fully realize. As we select music, we take care to choose tracks that compliment the event, the location, and the couples’ personalities from a handful of licensing sites that clear music with various artists and labels. Finding the right music for each film is the first step in our process and lays out the framework for the edit. Heidi and Dan were in the back of our minds whenever we listened to music, and by the time we started their edit, we had compiled a folder of over thirty tracks that could work for their film.

We created a story using the right combination of music and speeches, and then layered in the footage. Satisfied with the end result, we sent Heidi and Dan their video.

This was their response:
“We absolutely love everything about it.  FANTASTIC JOB!!!! Lots of tears were shed. Also, the music is Perfection. Nailed it.

THANK YOU!!!!
Heidi and Dan”

Anne + Alberto

Anne + Alberto

We’ve heard Anne and Alberto described as being particularly romanic by so many of the people involved in their wedding. In fact, their priest brought this up during his sermon and the entire church started cheering and nodding, because they knew this to be very true. We quickly came to learn that they are thoughtful, careful and live with a lot of intention. Anne and Alberto’s love isn’t just for each other, but extends to their family and friends through their great generosity and thoughtfulness. Even as wedding vendors we felt so included and thought of during their wedding. This video is definitely one of our favorites of the year, and so much of that has to do with Anne and Alberto being genuine and vulnerable on camera. Cheers to the happy couple!

Brittany + Kyle

Brittany + Kyle

Not many places in Wisconsin really take you away like the idyllic Villa Bellezza in Pepin. For Brittany, this place wasn’t just a place to get married, but holds special significance for her as she and her sisters helped their parents plant the first 300 of the now 10,000 vines on the vineyard today. Once just a dream, this vineyard & winery was born from a love of friends and family gathering over beautiful food and wines to celebrate being together. That celebration of life was so evident on Brittany & Kyle’s wedding day. There were stories shared of friendship, of generosity and the couple’s budding relationship. Everybody was joyful and the unmistakeable signs of happiness were on every single face. The couple also happens to be one of the sweetest and smartest couple’s we’ve had the pleasure to meet. I couldn’t be happier for their amazing start, and also thanks to the incredibly talented Jessica Wonders for bringing the whole event together, it was nothing short of flawless!

We love how Lucy Cashin & Jake Gardiner’s film came out, and so we’re excited to share this one with you all!! This is our second wedding with this group of friends and they are so. much. fun!! Seriously this crew has so much fun and energy, they keep the party going all night and they are just a blast to hang out with and film. Just a lovely bunch. Lucy & Jake a are a perfect pair, they both have an exciting and competitive spirit, with such kind and humble hearts. These two are perfectly suited for each other and just light up a room when they enter. They held their big day at the newly restored Minneapolis venue, Machine Shop. This beautiful new hot spot is filled with light and is the perfect example of industrial chic. Sadies Couture Floral delivered some incredible blooms as always….and of course the fabulous Nicolle Sellers at Mother of the Bride pulled the whole look together and the whole celebration went off without a hitch. Enjoy this super fun wedding, and cheers to the Gardiner’s!

Jess + Jake

Jess + Jake

What we loved about Jess and Jake is that despite all the people and activity around them on their wedding day, these two took little moments during the day with just the two of them to be together. Even when they were both occupied with hugs & kisses from family and friends, I would catch them stealing quick glances at each other. They were just so excited to start their lives together and it was very clear.

Camrose Hill of course was the perfect setting for their sweet garden wedding. Every direction we pointed our cameras we seemed to land on some picturesque scene. One of Jess’s bridesmaids described it as walking into a real-life Pinterest board. The flowers on the farm were in bloom, butterflies were everywhere, love & laughter filled the air. Congrats to Jess & Jake!

From Jess –

“We are soooo in LOVE with this!!!!!!! Thank you guys for creating such an amazing film for us to remember our day!  You guys were so easy to work with. We were definitely nervous about the cameras, but you made us feel super comfortable.  We are so excited to share this with our friends and family, such beautiful work!”

Mary + Lon

Mary + Lon

Mary and Lon have to be one of the most genuine and likable couples we’ve ever had the pleasure of filming, and Duluth’s historic Glensheen Mansion couldn’t have been a more fitting place for these two architects to tie the knot. The combination of the beautiful estate, lake superior and the surrounding woods has to make Glensheen one of the most picturesque wedding venues in the state. Glensheen may be charming, but it was Mary and Lon who really made this day so special. Come on, just look at the way they look at each other! It was so sweet and there was a definite sparkle in their eyes as they saw each other for the first time that day, as they read their vows to each other and as they danced the night away. You could see their full hearts and pure joy shining through at every moment of their wedding day. A stealthy storm blowing through the area pushed their plans for an outdoor ceremony into the reception tent (and then it ended up not actually raining a drop, go figure). But no change of plans could squash the wonderful celebratory spirit that afternoon as their friends and family gathered to witness their union. It was truly a beautiful day.

Morgan + Andy

Morgan + Andy

This summer celebration was the culmination of a decade long relationship that started for Morgan and Andy in the 8th grade. It was amazing to see the joy and closeness of their friends and family. This gathering wasn’t a tent full of strangers, but two tight knit families celebrating the official union of a very special couple. The Minikahda Club is always gorgeous, but today especially, in large part to the always on point Nicole Sellers of Mother of the Bride. The clear top tent and simple yet elegant decor looked stunning as the sun set and the party took off. It was mentioned several times during speeches that Andy and Morgan love to dance, and it wasn’t an exaggeration. These two truly left it all on the dance floor and held nothing back. Just watch Andy go at the 4:04 mark! We were out of breath just filming him! Morgan and Andy, as the maid of honor said, “Never stop dancing!”

Maddie + Ben

As wedding videographers, we love a good New Year’s wedding and are really excited that they are becoming a more popular time to get married. We hardly ever actually make NYE plans that live up to the expectations we have for December 31st, and an amazingly fun and glamorous party like this one is definitely where we’d rather be. Maddie and Ben wanted to create an epic party for their closest friends and family to celebrate the start of 2016 and their new life together, and they definitely nailed it! It started on New Year’s Eve with a rehearsal dinner at Pinstripes in Edina where everybody rang in the new year over bowling, bocce and a good brew or two. Maddie & Ben’s fun spirit really came alive around their friends and family, and everybody had an awesome night!

The celebration continued on January 2nd at Aria Minneapolis. This day brought together some of our favorite vendors in the Twin Cities including Style-Architects who continues to blow us away each time we get to work with them. The ceremony and reception, which were both at Aria, looked absolutely killer! The whole place sparkled, literally shining with all the candlelight on the sequin linens. The ceremony was not only incredibly beautiful, but it felt intimate, heartfelt and warm. After the couple skipped down the aisle (literally skipped, it was pretty cute) we ran a time-lapse video of the whole team flipping the room to prepare for the reception while all the guests enjoyed happy hour. Aria is an incredible space for something like this. It’s absolutely transformable and when all of these teams come together to create something, it’s very special. The amount of teamwork it took to pull off the room flip and all the décor was really amazing. You can check out the quick room flip video here.

The Johnny Holm Band kicked off the reception and added an extra five shots of energy to the party. Johnny has been a Minnesota establishment for over four decades. He was once quoted in the Star Tribune as saying, “What I’m about is engaging an audience and involving myself with them and them with me.” That’s exactly what he and his band do best, really engaging the crowd with anything from the limbo, to River Dance or a classic Spice Girls sing-along. Everybody had a blast and the event was definitely up there on the list of most kickass parties we’ve shot so far. We might stay for the party a bit longer than a typical videographer…for us it’s aaaall about the dance footage. The pressure is off at that time of the night, and we can relax and capture some really smooth dance moves. It’s also the most fun part to look through and edit later; it’s hard not to smile watching a group of friends get weird and laughing together. This party did not disappoint.

Simply put, I can’t imagine a better way to kick off 2016. It’s going to be a great year. Cheers to Maddie & Ben!
